WATERTOWN, NY — Even in the deep freeze, some symbols never leave town.

Three bald eagles—now known locally as Pride, Glory, and Shadow—were recently spotted soaring near Route 62 in Watertown, a powerful sight against one of the coldest stretches of winter we’ve seen in years.
The photo, captured by local observer Scott Marsh, shows the trio holding their ground despite biting temperatures and snow-covered terrain. Marsh says this isn’t a one-off moment either—he’s been seeing these eagles in the area since last year, suggesting they’ve made Watertown part of their regular patrol.
In a season defined by frozen rivers and iron-cold mornings, the presence of bald eagles feels especially fitting—resilient, watchful, and unmistakably American. While most of us are bundling up just to grab the mail, Pride, Glory, and Shadow are out there doing what they do best: riding the winter air and reminding us that strength endures, even in the harshest conditions. 🦅🇺🇸
