Purchased from an antique newspaper dealer, this remarkable issue was published during the War of 1812 and offers a firsthand look at the news, advertisements, public notices and everyday concerns of Americans more than two centuries ago. Rather than presenting the newspaper as one difficult-to-read document, The Watertown Post will publish its contents in individual sections, with clear images, readable transcriptions and historical context. New selections from the collection will be added regularly as we continue our journey through the news of 1812.
